RFID Software Guide 101

RFID is the short form of radio frequency Identification. RFID is similar to bar codes, RFID, but electro magnetic coupling is used to transmit signals. The main components of an RFID are silicon chips, an antenna and transceiver that can be used anytime and anywhere. The passive RFID tags do not require any energy source while active ones with backup power.

RFID is like a tag such as information and instructions are stored. Can be used in the manufacture of a car, a collar, etc. An RFID system is up to 90 meters. Unlike the bar code, RFID technology requires no sights of reading a barcode and RFID scanning can be performed at a distance greater than barcode scanning.

RFID has a plethora of uses. While initially the technology is only limited to track or identify dogs, a means of permanent identification number, the uses of RFID technology are simply multiplied over the years. Today, RFID is seen in almost all sectors. If the medical education (such as the library), shipping, automotive electronics, musical instruments, follows the movements of individuals via their passport etc., wherever that RFID technology is at work.

RFID becomes more popular for the production of RFID software. For example, most recently Intermec technology company has created a new intelligent-type RFID reader that can automatically route and manage information from RFID tags remotely, using WebSphere infrastructure device (the WRDI of IBM). WRDI is an open standard software platform that can be embedded in RFID devices. Software facilitates users with automatic collection of data and reports from the remote sites that do not have their own it support systems. The software also allows you to filter or to refine the incoming data based on predefined criteria or relevance and sends only the information necessary for the application of the enterprise server. WRDI is not only effective in network traffic data, but also allows you to make decisions on board. The software is a key role in integrating and reconciling the RFID data with the values of the various items of information about the company.

Innovation IBSS (integrated business systems) software based Synapse also has proven to be an advantage for the business world. This software called SynTrack Mobile Asset Management keeps a record of the expensive task of an undertaking as they move through different places. The software can identify a hierarchy of groups of tags, tags and areas. It offers a real time position of assets to be followed by continually updated in the user interface.

In addition to these large organizations an outstanding attempt has been made by a group of Malaysia. Using RFID technology students have invented a software or a device called the object Identification Information Network (Odin) to solve the practical problems of the people.

Sun Java System RFID Software showed commendable performance in the market. This software is the unique RFID middleware platform offering the Sun based on widely recognized industry standards, including those defined by the EPC global. The software provides the basis for the distribution of the EPC network for a company. Software design that communicates high levels of reliability and scalability for EPC network, simplifying the task of integration with existing corporate systems and multiple back-end.

Readers of Energy Saving LED RFID tags running energy of vibration

We can build the latest Robotics for Gillette, Wal-Mart and the Defense Department be ultra efficient? We can turn off all the lights and save energy? What you can disable all devices and save energy too? If there is a natural disaster, and fires the power of stock may run on minimum energy back-up and for weeks?

As we saw with Hurricane Katrina and Rita left power, but the delivery of the goods for Wal-Mart. And if the warehouse where all products have had their power out also, so what? We are able to prevent this potential?

I propose that we use the ROAR mechanical carriers and robotic fork lifts power RFID Tag readers LED by using electromagnetic induction technology to charge a capacitor instead of the lights working outside of the grid, a battery backup or emergency power. Currently, there are some micro-Pocket headlamps used nifty that you can buy that use a similar technique and are available through the torch technology research laboratory Everlite electric Lamp. These small torches work stirring for about 30 seconds and shine for about 6 minutes and they shine bright enough because they use a bright LED light. Here's a link to this household flashlight.I propose that we use stock, engines and their vibrations rumble robotic machines to run sensors, robotics and RFID readers. If RFID Tags readers LED is too weak to insufficient activity Robotics, then would return the battery or the power back-up. Might be a good way to save save a fuel generator so it lasts longer and save power when the power works well? Think About It.

Active vs passive RFID tags

RFID is a wireless system that can be mounted or attached to a product, animal or a human being using a tiny microchip that transfers data using radio waves. The data is sent through the device known as an RFID tag to a disk that can be in line of sight or of several meters. RFID tags are essentially an electronic circuit for storage and processing of data and signal transmission antenna. Tag antennas receive signals from RFID reader and returns the signal with additional information, such as a unique serial number or custom information. The technology is increasingly used in Enterprise supply chain to track inventory and asset management.

There are two varieties of RFID tag available, known as passive and active tags. While smart tags with their batteries or using solar energy capable of transmitting data in the stand-alone player, passive tags in the absence of a battery, require external sources of power for the transmission of signals.

Differences between the active and passive RFID tags

Differences in technical characteristics

Passive tags contain a chip or integrated circuit to absorb waves radio frequency signals of the reader and to send and receive data, low frequency or high frequency antennae and a mylar and plastic substrate that binds together the pieces of the tag. Since there is no battery power is provided by the reader that attracts radio waves through the antenna, which form a magnetic field. This allows the distribution of energy to the tag that is limited to the field of the reader. However, a smart tag that is significantly larger than a passive tag includes two add-ins, advice on nutrition and electronic devices. The power supply to a smart tag is through the battery even if some may be brought solar power. Council on electronic unit comprised of i/o, processors and sensors is powered by the power that allows you to transmit data to the drive alone. With a continuous availability of the power of the tag, the signal strength is required for the player to tag is less than what is necessary for a passive RFID tag. The signal strength is also exceeds to a tag to a reader in a smart tag.

Communication range

Since passive RFID tags are limited by the need for strong signals the tag and the few able to respond to the power supply unit, the range of communication of a passive tag is limited to 3 meters or less. Smart tags do not have the power constraint and can transmit as more than 100 meters or more.

Data storage

Although these two varieties of RFID tags dynamically can store data, active RFID tags have great read and write data storage nearly 128 kilobytes, research and the functionality of complex data access. Passive RFID technology, data storage has less 128 bytes without search functionality or data manipulation functions.

Capacity sensor

Whereas active RFID tags are able to continually monitor sensor entry and records, passive labels are able to monitor and record only when the sensor is powered by the reader.

Multi collection

Since the communication of a passive RFID label range is limited to 3 meters or less, he may recover 100 tags or if, in the range of only a single unit. In contrast, a smart tag can collect more than 100 labels of an area of seven hectares with a single unit.

An active RFID tags has significantly more advantages over passive RFID technology, but is more expensive and larger. The Organization's choice of a particular RFID tag would depend on the application of RFID technology in the Organization and their budget.

As RFID tags can improve a business

To demonstrate how RFID tags can greatly influence the fate of a business for the better, take a look at a controversial case. Take the example of a furniture manufacturer, specialized in providing a furniture chain.

This may seem like a case with no relevance to SMEs, but in reality, hotel chains are terribly demanding and without loyalty, so if they can meet these people, you can meet someone.

The main chain of hotels are that orders are met and in time, the quality of the products of the supplier has already determined through the ISO 9000 quality control and factory visits.

The hotel furniture manufacturer decides to introduce the passive RFID tags to track its elements from the point of production to the point of delivery, which is the hotel or its storage area.

In the previous conditions, the manufacturer had used some personal walk with barcode readers and clip tips on quality control and execution of orders.

The concern is that the provision was subject to human error and articles are still missing, bringing the compensating management over production and storage "just in case".

This is a fairly current scenario, but the difficulties are multiplied when you think of all the different items of furniture that are involved in the bathroom, a Hall or a hotel room and if they are kept in a warehouse of 200,000 square feet. Things are lost, forklift drivers make mistakes, people forget forms of inventory, fell ill and have a holiday.

In short, a stock like this execution is a nightmare with too much pressure on employees. Sometimes causes defective deliveries or, worse yet, imperfect delivery tickets. Sometimes the order can be complete, but the hotel could not think why the delivery note was wrong.

If this company was to start checking active RFID that you could connect an RFID tag full of furniture. The tag I would say where it is, what it is, that is, when we have delivered and what else is part of the order. The tag is read consistently from readers of RFID inventory warning when orders are delayed or is still incomplete.

Not only that, but the tags may reveal what needs to be done and if the element itself has passed quality control. You can also say that someone has found problems. In short, for example, a couple of people walking around the shop in the hope that they have everything covered, you can have radio sensors analyze each tag in a warehouse the size of a football field, reports back to a central computer, where the shop manager can access real-time information, not just the State of affairs at the close of business the day before.

This should increase the probability of the Manager to manage, reduce waste, to ensure the complete orders on levels of time and greater customer satisfaction, which should mean that more repeat orders.

ASSet tracking with RFID

Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a technology used to allow the identification and tracking of an object, using radio waves. These objects are tagged and can be read from several meters away and the line of sight of the reader. CE marking provides an easier to follow objects in interpreting that each tag next radio signals. Here there are two basic types of RFID tags:

Active RFID tags: active RFID tags contain an internal battery and are equipped for the transmission of signals independently.

Passive RFID tags: passive RFID tags do not have any built-in battery, and then require an external power source, causing the transmission of signals.

The circuit integrated the RFID tag is used for storing and processing information and modulation and demodulation of radio-frequency signals. The second part is an antenna, which is used for the reception and emission of the signal.

RFID is combined with mobile computing and Web technologies, to provide an effective means for the identification and asset management. It offers a complete set of tools that allows you to eliminate manual data entry and paperwork to track assets. Management of the entire system through Internet allows an individual or an organization to monitor and manage the assets of any part of the world. It also ensures the transfer documents online, which preserves the user updated on real-time data. Status of goods, information and working documents are synchronized with a web database and transmitted to the administration.

These days many companies are showing interest in simple activities monitoring solutions that can help to ensure the monitoring of critical or valuable goods in a given area. Allows them to know what exactly the active only come under their property and their acquisition life cycle. It also allows organizations to lower maintenance costs and optimize resource utilization. Products active follow-up to determine the general location of the marked objects anywhere in a defined space. Also allow the organization or the user to control the position, status and availability of any location and integrate business processes, to keep authorities informed decision

Steps for installing RFID Asset Tracking

Here are some simple steps to install a system with RFID asset tracking.

Design an Excel sheet with required fields: the first step is to design an excel worksheet that contains the custom fields, for example, the cost of the asset, its owner and serial number. This systematic information sheet helps the easy update records and extracting the necessary information.

Tags: active after that was done the excel worksheet, the next step is to label the possessions. It is important to understand the types needed for RFID tags, as in need of goods different tags.

Place the desired record Asset Tracking System: there are many brands of active RFID tracking systems on the market, so it must be certain of its requirements and budget before judgment is given on a particular brand. The speed of these systems is measured in the tags per second. Greater speed ensures greater efficiency, which in turn is bound to be more expensive than others. The excel worksheet is updated after each analysis and memorizes the last scan date and time. Missing data can be easily discovered by sorting the excel worksheet.

Asset Tracking with RFID provides an effective means of asset management and is a very useful tool for people who are struggling to keep track of their property.

Medical uses for RFID products

There are many ways to use RFID products in the medical field. But now that the tags themselves, can be made small; Pharmaceuticals, laboratory samples, bracelets and other medical equipment can be monitored and tracked before data can be automated. Thus, RFID products in the medical field are helping the Elimination of medical errors.

There are two types of RFID tags product widely used in medical applications. The first are the tags HF (high frequency), which were short range reading (up to 3 inches). These tags can be used for other critical liquid samples, blood and tissue. Work liquids and human tissues. UHF-RFID products read more strings, but unless they are properly designed, can be proximity désaccordés tissues, liquids and metals. These RFID products are used to track and identify critical medical devices, manage stocks of goods and follow-up times and identify patients. The vast majority of these RFID products is consistent with the standards of the world and is easily distributed due to their compatibility with the widely available at competitive prices, RFID readers

One of the strongest growth for RFID tags-product has to follow the pharmaceutical products and to ensure their authenticity. Application of RFID to the problem of counterfeit drugs will significantly increase the effectiveness of efforts to combat counterfeiting. This will improve the safety of medicines.

In the field of medical equipment, RFID product allows you to track and locate medical devices. The use of RFID on products and equipment RTLS (real-time locating), allows the hospital staff quickly locate critical medical devices. When you need a defribulator, you need to quickly locate! This improves patient safety and can reduce the amount of investment in equipment necessary. In addition, these tags can be used to inventory hardware and consumables used in surgery, including scalpels, sponges, necklaces and other equipment. End of an operation of everything that can be automatically recorded. Finally, RFID application-products goods aid medical institutions in the automation of the management of fishery resources, reduce overhead and minimize duplication of critical inventory supplies.

RFID tags-product can also be used in the identification of patients. These products-RFID, identity cards, wrist or ankle or labels applied to patient records, bands can greatly help to ensure that appropriate procedures are applied and medicines. In addition, RFID products enable data call the correct folder for the patient that is parsed and AIDS in the reduction of errors related to data-entry system. Finally, RFID-products can be used to monitor patients in a structure. Patients with diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, can be monitored in an establishment to make sure not to miss or get into an area where it might be harmful to themselves.

Laboratories may use RFID products for samples of tissue or fluid. As samples are moving in various stages of preparation, they can be followed automatically, reducing data error of seizure or mismanagement. Arriving at the pathologist for the analysis of samples will automatically record the patient's and the computer screen to ensure the right combination of sample with the patient.

Finally, pharmaceutical companies discovered that models using RFID products to automate the detection and location of pharmaceutical compounds that have proprietary million in their libraries. These valuable assets are difficult to inventory, but it is essential that it be made with a high level of precision. Products-RFID are seen as a technology for the automation of this task, but the high density and the small size of these samples still pose challenges.

Implementation of RFID products in the medical field has raised concerns about the confidentiality of medical information. In most cases, RFID product are only used as tables for items they tag. That is, contain only an identification number and all human readable "information on goods, drugs, tissue sample or patient, resides in a database on a computer that is associated with the RFID product through this registration plate number. Thus, the security of information is data, rather than the product or system in RFID transmissions between the RFID reader and RFID product. The FDA has defined four components to ensure the safety of medical information. Information must be kept confidential, must be accurate and complete and is available and accessible by following the procedure prescribed. By storing this information in a computer system, where security measures are already well established, the use of RFID products in the processes of doctors not to compromise the security of confidential information.

The implementation of RFID products in medical applications is reach maturity in many areas. Reduction of data entry errors, workflow automation and information, the improvement of the inventories of goods and consumables and binding better with patient treatment plans have all the advantages of RFID technology-products in the medical field. The results are better patient outcomes and reduce costs. It is clear that consolidated applications will continue to grow and new applications emerging RFID products in the medical field.

Package tracking GPS and RFID

It was not that many that followed years of ago was almost entirely speculation. If you have ordered something that had to be shipped to you might happen in 3 days or 3 weeks, and where the package was between you and the sender was a complete mystery. This change not only because the GPS tracking, but also because of radio frequency identification (RFID).

GPS is a wonderful technology that revolutionized many areas of our lives; but it is simply too much to put a GPS receiver on each box, package or envelope that is shipped. Is it really necessary for the GPS trace each package. Inevitably, the packages are in a building or truck, so all you need to know is that trucks or construction to your package and where the building or the truck is Obviously the buildings do not move, so you should to GPS tracking packages in a building, you need to just constantly knowing exactly which packages are in the building.

Shipment and delivery trucks are of course a different matter. Trucks must be followed by GPS to track packages in them. Very soon, each new delivery trucks hit the streets will have a fully integrated GPS tracking system. Old truck will be updated at the end with GPS, sooner than later, or truck probably will be removed completely. GPS truck transport is used primarily to allow the sender and the shipping company sa where are packages. GPS can also be used for navigation, but most of the truckers already know their territory and do not need GPS navigation. The push for a delivery truck with GPS is for tracking packages.

Therefore, the only thing left to make the system work is electronically tag each package. In the State of the art system of close future packages will be identified by RFID. Won't be long before RFID electronic tags that will be attached to almost all packages shipped anywhere in the world. Unlike current bar coding systems, electronic RFID tags do not require a Visual scanning and can bring much more information. Bar coding is almost everywhere these days, but it requires a close and accurate visual scanning a barcode reader. It is simply too slow and often inaccurate. A RFID Tag, however, require only that the package is in the range of radio frequencies or RFID RFID interrogator receiver. The days of running a package as a Visual scanner by hand are almost over.

Even today, most shipping companies have prototype and fully integrated delivery trucks, RFID, RFID interrogators, followed by GPS and computer network antennas cell equal all together. Factories, shipping and mail centres are also starting to use RFID in all their facilities so they know exactly what packages are in their structures. If monitoring package will soon be full circle. Send the package, or to send a radio signal frequency, RFID interrogator in the back of the truck or building catches the signal, computer on trucks or construction sends a quit message senders cell computer to know what is there, and finally the GPS system indicates the sender when the truck is whether the package is currently on a truck.

The barcode Laser Scanner for identification RFID-metamorphosis

Technological innovation of the 1970s, the barcodes were developed to allow the monitoring of the product as better visibility of inventory information and improve supply chain management. The humble laser bar code scanner would follow the elements and open their position in the supply chain inventory in retail outlets.

However, for modern businesses this solution may seem rather limited. The process behind using a laser bar code scanner is a slow as bar codes are a line of linear vision technology, which required most of the time human interaction. In addition, the laser bar code are limited to the amount of information they can store. A new system had to be developed.

RFID is a wireless technology that can take the form of a small chip and can be bound to a data collection product. The use of radio waves means that the RFID chips are not required to be in direct contact with a receiver and can be tracked by location using GPS or wireless or mobile points. In addition, where the traditional barcode can be tampered with, information is the same chip. In addition, multiple tags can be read at the moment.

Features

As a relatively new technology, it is important to understand the characteristics of RFID tags that are different from traditional laser barcode scanner barcode. First, the memory is defined as the ability to read and write to the tag. A read-only tags often includes a unique identifier, such as the product code. The distance that can be read the RFID tag is always increased, and it is important to note that the high-frequency tags have autonomy, currently about 1 metre, while the low-frequency tags have a range of less than 25 cm. Finally, the smart tags are powered with an internal battery, but to maintain profitability and form small, passive RFID tags are powered by the reader.

Real-world applications

Since RFID tags are improving detection capabilities and the ability to transmit information, it is possible for the regulation of products or the stock market. Boxes of fish, the physical product that moves his way through the supply chain, temperature may be monitored or whether if it was stored correctly. If one of parameters of configured is violated, as a nominal temperature increase, an alert can be sent via SMS or another form of communication.

At the end of the Barcode Laser Scanner?

One of the aspects of supply chain improvement increases the effectiveness of sending and receiving of the goods. For example, a number of large retailers now requires suppliers to use RFID tags for goods, such as pallets, to allow the management of the stocks held in a much more effective on the retail site. Providers can label their goods when they leave the warehouse with information such as the identification of priority levels and stock to manage information.

RFID tags are extremely powerful devices that certainly have their advantages. However, just like laser barcode scanners and barcode, RFID tags should be standardized to allow effective communication between devices.

Uses of RFID technology for air carriers

You can do an RFID system Ordinance on an aircraft carrier? We believe that as well. The RFID tag would be or the weapon in its construction phase of the expedition, not to lose their arms. In the case of the Navy he recorded in an inventory control system all the way until it is loaded on a plane and a vector. In doing so, it would make an instant order to the author of the weapon to another. Logistics control in real time. There are many processes of procurement and logistics and more can be done to do better.

Remember all sorts of other issues to address to them. The RFID tag reader would be on the plane, while that on the Catapult hook area would also mean that the order has left the ship. Since they may land back on the ship with order that would be exploded. To order, that is authorized to land back on the ship, which would not have marked sold until it left the aircraft. 20 mm shells would be sent to the inventory control system and aircraft would be sent to the unit in the aircraft, which could be downloaded. Every 100 shots would be marked by an RFID tag. An enemy is killed by a 20 mm shell would die from a bullet specially marked as a normal, then you're doing them a favor as you send them to their final destination to meet Allah? In other words the enemy doesn't care that the factor is zero debate.

On a tank can be on the end of the barrel, as the reader suggests that the order is taken into account. If the tank is destroyed and the crew is lost, then the system centered on the brand equity that is destroyed, and 3 more people enrolled in the school of tank, a char is ordered and the order of the order to supply cancelled the delivery date for tank replacement. You can see. Sounds morbid? This is not really the reality for the supply chain. War is hell. If you want to have a war, it more with getting quickly that possible and by all means be sure to win.

Clauswitz's accepts and Patton said an army travels on its stomach, Yes Yes and that goes for fuel, armament, weapons and people. RFID tags rationalize systems. I'm not certainly justify the murder of his case, but if it is to occur, let's get to the right with less anxiety. The devil is in details, your supply chain can kill much faster of the opposing side. As a Hunter of prices which is out of shape, was drinking too late at night before or runner who has not loaded on the complex carbohydrates in the days before the event, if you want to save, be willing to keep the distance. Just a thought. Are the drawings and diagrams and much more on this idea.

With the tool tracking RFID and RTLS: deployment considerations

Technical instrument missing or out can derail a CRP. Therefore, many manufacturers use an RFID and RTLS technology enables status tracking and maintenance tool in real time saves. Process automation using the tracking tool/RFID RTLS varies from a field in RFID-enabled tools or Cabinet tools contains an RTLS (real-time locating system) to monitor the device through a production.

Deployment considerations:

What types of tools can be located?: the word "instrument" for any number of indirect materials in a production environment. Some tools require little maintenance and management of the process are subject to rare interview while others. Some tools can fit into a box in RFID-enabled tools, vending machines or cot, free-standing while others production equipment (e.g., a laser Scriber table or tool for composite materials) can be. In certain environments can present a high risk of FOD (foreign object debris or damage) and must very closely.

What you know about the tool?: sufficient for great tools, to get a general location, while the location of small tools or instruments with a high potential overseas departments require greater precision. Special tools have calibration schedules that must be followed to ensure that composite is exposed to extreme temperatures of spectrometer instruments, to follow the life of use. Any tools is used by defense contractors, since you may not be used for commercial activities and are subject to the test at any time to communicate.

The process of monitoring tool adjacent is interested?: detection tool is not usually an end in itself, because often, such as for example the current program management/contract work, materials management and field service management. When track work in progress, for example, the use of certain tools (such as a puncture)-often represents a step in the process. In turn, the order is a tool or specific procedures for the various phases of the work in General. Map of adjacent process with first creation can provide detection tool while paving the way for greater efficiency on the road easier.

This should be monitoring data that is passed into your enterprise systems? Data real-time monitoring tool can an ERP system, programme management and MSP, production processes and logistics communicate more effectively at the end. For example, is an instrument with a specific step in the work of installation, ongoing monitoring system can be informed, if the tool is and update the status of a production. Many manufacturers and service providers have enabled significant benefits of the work in progress and monitoring tools in tandem, for a view into customer orders in real time, completion of the programme and the allocation of working capital.

Process automation tool with RFID or RTLS in the production efficiency and service operations subject to different factors of a number of specific tools, or process can cause the instrument that most benefits in terms of quality, the allocation of capital, to minimize delivery time and risk.

RFID wristband applications and benefits

RFID enabled wristbands are used for various purposes across a number if industries. Schools, hospitals, amusement parks, militaries, cruise ships and a number of other enterprises are moving forward with projects to put RFID tags into wristbands. RFID enabled wristbands are ideal for various applications where it is vital to provide location or privileged services to patrons, patients, workers, temporary visitors or other personnel groups. Some of the applications that come to mind are in healthcare, where these wristbands can provide patient safety and security; in the entertainment industry where wristbands can be used for convenience and customer safety; the U.S. Department of Defense can use Radio-frequency identification wristbands to track soldiers, and combat casualties, and higher education facilities could used RFID wristbands to monitor attendance and increase student safety. While the above mentioned applications are important, the list does not end there, these bands can be used across most industries for various applications.

What is an RFID Enabled Wristbands?

In simple terms, RFID bands systems contain two parts: a tag and a reader. An RFID tag embedded in the wristband contains an antenna; the majority of these tags are passive. Passive RFID tags are small data transponders that are powered by the radiation received from a querying RFID reader - these tags "wake - up" when irradiated by the reader.Active RFID wristbands contain batteries and can send signals to readers. Readers can be mounted on walls, doorways, ceiling or be hand held.A lost child wearing a barcode wristband in RFID bands in an amusement park can be located by the reader infrastructure which then transmits that location information to his/her parents.

RFID-Wristbands in Healthcare:

There are many applications for RFID technology in healthcare. These bands specifically can be used in patient safety applications. These applications can provide patient tracking and identification services through the use of Radio-frequency identification wristbands. Additionally the use of RFID bands in healthcare can improve resource utilization and expedite patient admission process within all hospital departments. Due to the lack of real-time data, majority of the hospitals find it hard to keep track of their patients' whereabouts while the hospital staff is on the move, thus leading to delays in patient admission from the emergency department.By assigning RFID bands to patients at the point of admission, recording patient information on these wristbands and strategically placing RFID readers throughout the hospital, patients can be located and identified while moving freely around the hospital, thus decreasing delays throughout the hospital.

In addition, RFID wristbands can be used to record patient information to correctly identify patients.Incorrect identification of patients can lead to incorrect drug administration, execution of undesired procedures, misfiling of results and medical documentation and can cause general delays.RFID enabled wristbands can, not only store patient information, but can have read and write capabilities as well.Usually, nurses and hospital personnel take notes by hand and then enter them into databases, leaving room for human error and causing general delays in hospital proceedings. With RFID enabled wristbands patient information, can be retrieved from the database via a wireless network by getting RFID enabled handheld devices in the vicinity of the wristbands. Hospital personal can obtain information on their patient instantly through patient's wristband. With the use of RFID enabled wristbands doctors and nurses can monitor patients' in real time, decrease mistakes and allow for a faster patient admission and treatment.

Some hospitals are already employing RFID enabled wristbands to help them track and identify patients. In 2003, The Albert Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia, PA deployed a passive RFID identification tracking system. Since the deployment the hospital increased emergency department traffic flow by 24% and decreased the number of patients leaving before receiving care by 3%.

RFID Enabled Wristbands in the Entertainment Industry

RFID wristbands can have various applications in the entertainment industry. Amusement parks, cruises, concerts and festivals could all benefit from Radio-frequency identification wristband deployment. RFID bands in amusement parks can provide customers with convenience and security. According to some studies, over 27% of all families that visit an amusement park loose one of their children while there. With the use of these bands parks can prevent children from being lost. These bands assigned to park goers at the point of ticket purchase, can store basic information such as name, telephone number and address of the person wearing the wristband. Parents with lost children could go to park administration and retrieve their child's location.Paramount's Great American in Santa Clara, CA is a perfect example of an amusement park using RFID enabled wristbands to track park goers. Great American attendees get RFID bands with his/her name. One of many antennas scattered throughout the park -whichever is closest to the person at any given moment -reads the wristband and sends the information to the park's administration.Parents who lose their children can go to any service kiosk, wave their own wristband, and bring up maps showing their kids' locations.

Cruises, concerts and festivals could all benefit from similar Radio-frequency identification wristband applications. By utilizing RFID enabled wristbands, these ventures can not only track their customers but also provide them with convenience and security.

Royal Caribbean Oasis did just that, when it set sail in December 2009. The world's largest cruise ship provided its customers with RFID wristbands that not only offered families and groups a way to track their members, but to also allowed users to make reservations at restaurant's and spas. The application used Wi-Fi based RFID tags in wristbands and Apple iPhones. The location information was transmitted to the iPhone user to send alerts, to those wearing wristbands. This allowed for users to move freely about the cruise ship without worrying about their family members being lost. 2Live sector can also benefit from Radio-frequency identification wristband deployment. By storing bank account information on RFID enabled wristbands, attendees will not need to bring their debit cards, cash, and credit cards to the venue, therefore eliminating theft that occurs at concerts, sporting events and other similar events. Similarly, medical information can be stored on Radio-frequency identification wristbands, therefore upgrading safety for individuals in case of an emergency. Additionally, RFID enabled wristbands allow administration personal to monitor the crowds. By scanning wristbands by readers that contain all of the information of all the wristband holders attending, and sending this data wirelessly to a server, crowds can be monitored and controlled in real time. In 2004, South by Southwest (SXSW), a music festival held annually in Austin, Texas, used Radio-frequency identification wristbands to prevent counterfeiting of wristbands, eliminate over - crowding and to increase public safety at their events.

RFID Wristband Application in Defense

RFID enabled wristband applications vary when it comes to defense. These wristbands can be used to track wounded in warfare, track soldiers on battlefields, help families track relatives and identify victims during natural disasters. In 2007, U.S. Navy used RFID enabled wristbands to track and identify the wounded naval officers arriving at the field hospitals in Iraq. By employing these wristbands and satellite communication, medical personnel could better plan for arriving casualties. Additionally, the U.S. military has been considering using RFID to track soldiers on the battlefield to warn and monitor those going in and out of chemical or biological hot zones.

Some companies have been employing Radio-frequency identification wristbands to help families prevent their loved ones, who are at risk, from wandering away from the house. If an individual wearing the wristband approaches a door, an alarm sounds. This application is perfect for individuals suffering from Alzheimer's or similar conditions.

Moving Forward

RFID wristbands can be used across many industries, and in various applications. However, the same holds true regardless of the industry or the application: RFID bands are becoming the standard in people identification and tracking.RFID enabled wristbands are used in healthcare, defense, entertainment industries and even some schools are starting to employ RFID to track student attendance. While the cost of Radio-frequency identification wristband systems may seem daunting, the system's ability track patients in hospitals, cut down cost of counterfeit tickets at festivals, increase security and track wounded is a major plus.

Eternal life with RFID technology

For those of you that take the phone to the grave. John Bottorff, General Manager of Objecs LLC, perhaps the best. The RosettaStone is a small mounted on a plaque, which uses a microchip to access the history of the life of the person. Anyone who taps your visit to the grave with a mobile NFC RFID simply the phone on the tombstone and the data is displayed in its interface. NFC phones, even if it is available from abroad, not available in America until the end of 2010 user, but the Americans still loaded on stone in taking pictures or by entering manually a access to short URL information.

"Objecs goal in life is the exchange of information between people and objects to the people." said Bottorff. What began as a heady mission connectivity, focus on (on everything) gravestones. Historically, Objecs, main source of income hyperlinks object for the purposes of the necessity of learning, of the right of access to information at the time and place the need was. This method is effective, because the desire to learn, when in the context of a real need is more accentuated. Imagine that you are trying to fix an air conditioner. After removing the device and the crossing of a component is not known; You simply scan the barcode or 2D bar code for the item using your mobile phone and in function and appear on the screen — this is an application of hyperlinks of the object. Object hyperlinking, runs through various media such as the 2D bar code, direct line, link, image recognition and RFID, all services that provides a Objecs.

Personal Rosetta Stone itself is the result of two and two are made of Bottorff. A client who has commissioned the Portugal Objecs object's link on the crumbling gravestones install 600 years of his property, as a means to identify via mobile phone-an application that simply more widespread since access to information on the links in Europe. At the same time John and his wife lost a family member are disappointed by this monument to offer the market. After came up with different technologies, she now Rosetta is the personal solution with what.

The staff of Rosetta is one of the dimensions of a hacked iPhone with six symbols in a library of more than 600 lives, people represent. The tablet can legacy stored or professionally installed on the same gravestone. The owner has added to 1000 words and a picture of the database through a Web site. The information is then permitted by hitting on all tabs of NFC phone, manually enter the URL to any Web-enabled phone or with the recognition of image. The Tablet uses this phone electromagnetic microchip for about a second time, the manufacture of battery useless for the transmission of information and the longevity of technology requires. Some time after 90 days on the database information is starting to consolidate and are increasingly difficult, change permanently stored in a State, in several places, Canada, the United States and Egypt the smart tag component. Therefore, when Objecs goes out of business, the story of your life is threatened. Is an important point of difference between personal and memorial sites RosettaStone, whose data often are exclusive and disappeared with them.

Objecs of Rosetta Stone offers a product a 55 mm, as a major exhibition that is installed directly into a tombstone, Bank or other statues. This version of the product is not public, but directly by the provider for the removal of the world.

The technology behind the Rosetta earned one of the Ten finalists in slot trading route of the NFC Forum global competition Objecs. The forum of near-field communication was founded to promote the use of near field communication technology by developing specifications, interoperability between devices and services, and to educate the market about NFC technology. NFC is a short-range wireless technology of high-frequency communication enables the exchange of data between devices at a distance of 10 cm. Is an extension of RFID, combines the interface of smart card and reader in one device.

The unexpected success of RosettaStone staff threw Objecs team of five employees in a frenzy, forces to adapt to a new business model and operations almost overnight. "Floating, that any small, local and this version only generates an almost immediate global response". Bottorff said. Objecs was from only one company in the field of non-current assets, tools and software. Since they produce the tablets themselves, they had to contract outside help. A second generation of Mason, come aboard and allows you to install a chip into a rock. "We were lucky to connect with people the most important, which are important, what they do with the rock." Real challenges involved be when working with granite and a microchip. "The challenges that, like almost deal breaker, but have found a way around it."Bottorff.

The success of the product is character change culture around on the street, where you change and storage of information. Until, even the slightest change in the market of the monument we saw? Breaking in the field of course Holy and immutable tells the mobile movement and the new ways that people are ready to receive and process information. Bottorff says, the industry of the monument "to have a very real need for mobile technology, if I visit AHA!" When I play my hand phone with him, they go to a rock and see immediately, an obituary or a tree of the family. Is the face of progress. »
